How to keep your Horse happy and healthy

Tonight was spent at a very inspirational seminar by Josefine Blom Lugn about creating and keeping a long lasting healthy horse.

The seminar was full of very useful theoretical and practical information and it got me even more excited about next year’s competition season.

The course was held at a very cozy farm in Riala about 1 hours drive away but it was snowing quite heavily so it took some extra time for us to get there.

Almost all aspects of keeping and training a horse were dicussed such as training schedules, shooing, feeding, preventing injuries and ways to deal with injuries.

She also talked a lot about the similarities between human and horse physiology. This part was especially interesting for me since I am taking a physiology course right now at University as part of my bachelor’s degree in biology.

One of the very best parts of winter is getting the time to plan and prepare for next year’s season in ways like this.
